1. Eucalyptus essential oil

Its very commonly used in over-the-counter chest rubs or vapors you might buy in you pharmacy. You have probably already  used it without realizing it. Eucalyptus essential oil fights bacteria, reduces inflammation, relieves pain and relaxes the muscles.

Eucalyptus essential oil can be used to calm a cough in several ways.

  • adding a few drops of eucalyptus oil to 1 ounce of carrier oil and rubbing the mixture onto the chest and throat

This oil is known to be anti microbial and a great germ killer. Therefore it helps to treat viral or bacterial causes of a cough.
