Ease Anxiety with Aromatherapy
Essential oils are powerful tools for anxiety relief.
Existing pharmaceutical protocols for anxiety have its downfalls due to dependence and withdrawal effects that are attached to over-the-counter drugs. However, alternative and complementary therapies can offer safe solutions for relieving anxiety disorders (Malcolm, Benjamin J, and Kimberly Tallian, 2018) while also empowering the individual to put their mental health on their own hands.
Formulate essential oil recipes for anxiety by incorporating soothing, refreshing, calming and/or grounding oils to relieve tension in the mind and body.
Essential Oil Recipes For Anxiety Relief
Lavender Calm Diffuser Blend
Lavender essential oil is renowned for calming an over-active mind and easing anxiety. According to a 2018 study, lavender oil exhibited a calming effect without sedation, dependence or withdrawals. It is known as one of the best oils for easing stress and mental tension.
Additionally, eucalyptus contains various compounds, such as ellagic acid, which produces anti-depressant and anxiolytic (anxiety relieving) effects (Kim, Ka Young et al., 2014). Additionally, eucalyptus contains the compound known as eucalyptol, which may help respiratory ailments. If you feel that your anxiety hinders easy breathing, eucalyptus will help open the pathways of the respiratory tract.
Finally, frankincense is a calming and grounding aroma with anti-inflammatory properties. It has long been used as one of the top essential oils for soothing anxiety and stress (Asad M, Alhomoud M., 2016).
