Background

The history of religious and medicinal uses of myrrh oil dates back to 5000 years ago when ancient monks used the sap of the tree to treat a range of health issues, such as headaches, bacterial infections, arthritis pain, and as a health tonic. Myrrh resin was burned to produce a soothing aroma during religious ceremonies and spiritual practices in ancient times. It is mentioned in the tale of three wise men guided by a star to the birthplace of Jesus, who brought with them the gift of Frankincense, gold, and Myrrh.

General Information

Ecodrop’s Myrrh essential oil is produced from the Commiphora myrrha trees sourced from Somalia. The tree barks are cut to extract the sap, which hardens in the shape of granular beads. These beads are crushed to powder and steam distilled to produce a thick, viscous, amber-coloured Myrrh essential oil.
