Background

Cymbopogon flexuous, commonly known as Cochin grass, Malabar grass, or Lemongrass, is a densely growing shrub native to moist regions of India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Southeast Asia. Its long, razor-like leaves emit a distinct citrusy aroma with a lime-like undertone. Traditionally used in the perfume and essential oil industry, Lemongrass became a popular global commodity in the early 19th century due to its therapeutic and aromatic benefits.

General Information

Ecodrop's Organic Lemongrass Essential Oil is extracted from Cymbopogon flexuous leaves harvested in eastern India, cultivated according to UK Soil Association Organic Standards. The top leaf portion contains the highest oil concentration, which is why harvesting takes place early in the morning to preserve potency. Leaves are then dried in shade and undergo steam distillation to produce pure, aromatic, and therapeutic-grade Lemongrass oil.

Lovely Aroma - The smell of the Lemongrass Oil, is beautiful. Very prompt and efficient service, an added bonus was a booklet on other essential oils for various aromatherapy uses. Primary use of this oil for me is for bee keeping, attracting a swarm, hopefully the aroma will entice them to my bait hive.

Q. What is Lemongrass Essential Oil good for?

Lemongrass Essential Oil is widely used for its antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties. It works well as an insect repellent, skin toner, muscle relaxant, and even as a natural household deodoriser. It can also aid in reducing headaches and stress when diffused.

Q. Who shouldn't use Lemongrass Essential Oil

Individuals with sensitive skin or citrus allergies should avoid using Lemongrass Essential Oil without consulting a healthcare provider. Pregnant women, nursing mothers, and those with hormone-sensitive conditions should also consult a medical expert before use.

Q. What bugs hate Lemongrass Essential Oil?

Mosquitoes, flies, ants, lice, and fleas are especially sensitive to the aroma of Lemongrass Essential Oil. Its high citral content disrupts the sensory processing in insects, making it an effective natural repellent.

Q. Can you put Lemongrass Essential Oil directly on your skin?

No, Lemongrass Essential Oil should always be diluted with a carrier oil before applying to the skin. It is potent and may cause irritation if used undiluted. A safe dilution is typically 2-3 drops per teaspoon of carrier oil.
