Background
Rosmarinus officinalis, commonly known as Rosemary, is native to Spain, Southern France, and the Mediterranean region. A member of the Lamiaceae(mint) family, this perennial plant grows up to 1-2 metres in height and bears pointy needle-shaped leaves with pink, purple, white, and blue flowers. Because of its intense and rich scent, Rosemary oil enjoys immense popularity among perfume and cosmetic industries.
Its colourful flowers, uplifting aroma, and therapeutic properties make this woody plant an invaluable ornamental herb which finds its place as a garden herb in almost every part of Europe. Its name is derived from the Latin words “Ros” and “Marinus” meaning “Dew of the sea.”
General Information
Ecodrop’s Rosemary essential oil is obtained from the leaves of organically grown Rosmarinus officinalis farms, certified under strict Soil Association Organic Standards. To maintain quality, leaves are harvested just before the blooming season. These are then dried and sent for oil extraction by the steam distillation process.
