Background
Eucalyptus globulus is native to the Australian subcontinent but now cultivated in many parts of the world for the growing popularity of its revitalising essential oil. Also known as southern blue gum, Eucalyptus is an evergreen tree that can grow up to 45-100 metres in height, with smooth bark and glossy green lance-shaped leaves. The oil obtained from its leaves has been used for decades in Indian, Chinese, and Greek cultures.
The healing property of Eucalyptus leaves was discovered in England in the early 1600s. Since then, it has been used to clean and dress wounds. Described as nature's wonder, Eucalyptus oil was used and traded internationally on a wide scale, but its use in cosmetics was realised much later. Even now, this oil finds popularity in aromatherapy for its purifying and cleansing properties and numerous medicinal uses.
General Information
Ecodrop's Organic Eucalyptus oil is derived from organically grown Eucalyptus globulus farms in China, lab-tested under strict Soil Association Organic Standards. To ensure quality, Ecodrop harvests green leaves early in the morning during spring and summer seasons, when the leaves have the highest concentration of oil. Freshly cut leaves are towed straight away to the distillery where they go through the steam distillation process to extract the essential oil.
