Background

Citrus aurantium dulcis is a tropical evergreen tree belonging to the Rutaceae family. The orange tree can grow up to 5-10 metres in height and has greyish-brown barks. Native to China, the orange tree is now widely cultivated all over the world for use in food, medicine, and cosmetics. The tree bears oval-shaped, glossy, dark-green leaves and profoundly fragrant, small, white flowers.
Sweet orange oil has been historically used for promoting beauty and health. In traditional and folk medicines, it was used to enhance immunity and for treating common complaints like stress, acne, skin infections, indigestion, etc. In Chinese culture, oranges are believed to bring good fortune, and its essential oil is used at merry gatherings and weddings to improve the general mood.

General Information

Ecodrop’s Organic Sweet Orange essential oil is extracted from the fruit peel of organically grown oranges, sourced from Brazil, certified organic by the UK Soil Association. Manually harvested oranges are cold-pressed to squeeze the essential oil and the juice, which are then separated and collected through centrifugation. The cold pressing method ensures minimal loss of antioxidants and other active ingredients of the oil.

BENEFITS AND USES

Uses

Skincare: Sweet Orange oil helps lighten the skin tone and maintain clear flawless skin.

Haircare: It treats dandruff, soothes scalp inflammation, and maintains hair health. Since Orange oil is so rich in vitamin C, scalp massage can restore the colour pigment melanin at the hair roots.

Lip care: Hydrates dry, chapped lips and adds a sweet scent to your lip balm.
Cleaning: This antimicrobial oil makes a perfect companion for house cleaning liquids, sanitizers, and disinfectant sprays.

Aromatherapy: Diffuse in your home for improved concentration and mood upliftment.

Massage: Massage with Orange oil improves blood circulation and reinvigorates muscles.

Directions

Diffusion: Add 6-8 drops to your diffuser. Make sure the room is well-ventilated. Orange oil blends well with other citrus oils, Nutmeg oil, and Cinnamon essential oil.
Acne treatment: Add 2-3 drops to a tsp of honey or your preferred carrier oil. Apply on face and massage gently. After 15-20 minutes, wash with warm water.

Skin-lightening night cream: To a 30 ml bottle of jojoba oil, add 20 drops of Sweet orange oil. Use this oil as your daily night cream.

Lip balm: Melt grated beeswax (1/3 part), shea butter (1/3 part), and castor oil (2/3 part) in a double boiler. Add 10-12 drops of Sweet orange oil and pour the mixture in a clean container. Let it cool down, and your luxurious natural lip balm is ready to use. Refer to our eBook for more DIY recipes.
