Background
The famous Indian spice Black peppers come from the Piper nigrum plants native to the Western Ghats. The plant is a perennial climber growing up to 10 m in height and has short roots. Because of its hot and spicy flavour and potent health benefits, it is one of the most frequently used spices all over the world. In the past, Black peppers were considered so valuable that they were used as a form of currency for international trade. They were valued more than gold until the middle of the 18th century. Ancient Greeks and Romans were known for their love of this spice, and peppers marked an important link of trade between the east and the west.
General Information
Ecodrop’s Black Pepper essential oil is extracted from dried black peppers through the steam distillation process. The peppers are sourced from organic Piper nigrum plantations in India, certified organic by the UK Soil Association. The oil has a warm, spicy, and musky aroma.
