Background

The use of Essential Oil of Myrrh dates back over 5,000 years. Ancient monks and civilisations across Egypt, Greece, and Asia valued myrrh resin for its profound healing and spiritual qualities. Used in religious ceremonies, Myrrh Essential Oil was prized for its grounding aroma and therapeutic potency. Even in biblical history, it was revered—offered by the wise men to baby Jesus alongside gold and frankincense.

General Information

Ecodrop’s Myrrh Essential Oil is steam-distilled from the hardened sap of Commiphora myrrha trees, ethically sourced from Somalia. This rich, amber-coloured oil is 100% pure and Soil Association certified organic. The extraction process involves carefully collecting the resin beads, grinding them into powder, and distilling them to capture their potent, aromatic essence.

Myrrh Essential Oil Benefits

Haircare

Perfect for dry, itchy scalps, Myrrh Essential Oil stimulates the sebaceous glands to balance oil production. It nourishes the hair follicles, reduces dandruff, and helps thicken and strengthen strands naturally.

Skincare

With its antibacterial and antiseptic properties, Essential Oil of Myrrh keeps skin clear of acne, tightens pores, and prevents breakouts. It also promotes wound healing and fades scars over time.

Aromatherapy

Known for its warm, balsamic, earthy scent, Myrrh Essential Oil is emotionally grounding. Diffuse it to reduce stress, ease negative emotions, and enhance meditation or spiritual rituals.

Respiratory Relief

Myrrh is a natural decongestant. Inhaling steam infused with Myrrh Essential Oil helps clear the sinuses, soothe sore throats, and relieve chest congestion.

Pain Management

When added to massage oil, myrrh helps reduce joint pain and inflammation. It is particularly effective for post-exercise muscle soreness and arthritis-related discomfort.
