Background

Pine needle has a forest fragrance and is thus mentally refreshing. The oil has energizing and mood-elevating properties, providing mental calmness with improved concentration and memory. Pine is commonly used in households as a cleaner and a disinfectant. It can improve circulation and reduce muscle and joint pain, and inflammation. Pine is believed to be purifying, aids detoxification, and beneficial for dry and itchy skin. Oil of pine needles is derived from the plant’s needle like leaves. The leaves of pine trees are needle like to minimise transpiration and protect against snow.

General Information

The Pine tree is popularly recognized as the “Christmas Tree”. It is commonly cultivated for its wood, which is rich in resin and is thus ideal for use as fuel.
In folk tales, the height of the pine tree led to its symbolic reputation as a tree that loves sunlight and is always growing taller in order to catch the rays of sun. Many cultures refer to it as “The Master of Light” and “The Torch Tree.” Accordingly, in the region of Corsica, it is burned as a spiritual offering so that it can emit a source of light. Some Native American tribes know it as the “The Watchman of the Sky.”
