Organic Lemon Essential Oil

Lemon essential oil is bottled brightness, here's how people put it to work:

1. Mood & mornings: a few drops in the diffuser make grey starts feel lighter, one of the most uplifting scents in aromatherapy.
2. Focus: crisp and clean while you work, pair it with peppermint or rosemary at your desk.
3. Natural cleaning: cuts through grease and lifts kitchen smells, a staple of DIY sprays, floor washes and wood polish.
4. Fresh laundry & rooms: a drop on a wool dryer ball or in a linen spray keeps things smelling just-washed.
5. DIY & fragrance: the classic zesty top note for candles, soaps and blends, with IFRA use levels published under Documents.
6. Bulk & trade: 500ml and 1 litre bulk lemon oil for soap makers, candle makers, cleaning-product formulators and skincare brands.

Everyday uses

1. In a diffuser: 4–6 drops for a bright, clean atmosphere, lovely in kitchens and hallways.
2. Cleaning spray: 15–20 drops in a 500 ml bottle of water and white vinegar for surfaces and chopping boards.
3. Focus blend: 3 drops lemon + 2 drops peppermint in the diffuser while you work.
4. Massage: diluted in a carrier oil for a fresh, awakening rub, mind the sun rule below.
5. Linen & laundry: 2–3 drops on a dryer ball or in a homemade linen spray.

How to dilute

• Everyday use: 1–2%, about 6–12 drops per 30 ml of carrier oil.
• Sun rule: cold-pressed lemon is photosensitising, keep treated skin out of direct sun for 12 hours.
• Never apply neat: always mix with a carrier oil and patch test first.

Bottled in the UK

From the safety data sheet in the Documents tab: lemon oil carries the signal word Danger. In plain terms: never swallow it, always dilute it, keep it off sun-exposed skin, and avoid it in pregnancy.

• External and aromatic use only: may be fatal if swallowed and enters the airways (H304). Never swallow.
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding: avoid. The safety data sheet classifies lemon oil as H361, suspected of damaging fertility or the unborn child, because of its gamma-terpinene content.
• Sun sensitivity: avoid direct sunlight and sunbeds on treated skin for 12 hours. Cold-pressed lemon contains natural furocoumarins.
• Dilute before skin use: causes skin irritation (H315) and may cause an allergic reaction (H317). Keep to 2% or less and patch test first.
• Oxidation: citrus oils oxidise quickly once opened, and oxidised oil is more likely to irritate skin. Cap tightly and use within a year.
• Eyes: rinse with water for several minutes if it gets in.
• Flammable: flash point above 49°C. Keep away from heat, sparks and open flames.
• Do not pour it down the drain: very toxic to aquatic life with long-lasting effects.
• Children and pets: cats in particular are sensitive to citrus oils. Store out of reach and diffuse only in ventilated rooms pets can leave.
