Background

Mentha piperita or Peppermint is a perennial plant that can grow up to 30-90 cm in height. It bears beautiful purple coloured four-lobed corolla flower, framed in dark green leaves with red veins. The Peppermint plant is native to some European, Middle East, and Asian Countries, but due to its wide popularity and demand, it is grown in almost every part of the world.
Since ancient times, Peppermint has been a cherished plant among Chinese and Japanese people because of its uses in their traditional medicine practices. Its dried leaves were found in pyramids of Egypt. These leaves were believed to make afterlife pleasant. The impact of Peppermint’s fragrance has been mentioned in Greek mythology as the story of a nymph named Mentha. Even at present, Peppermint oil is one of the most used essential oils in the world, second only to Lavender.

General Information

Ecodrop’s Organic Peppermint essential oil is extracted from the leaves of Mentha piperita, grown organically in the temperate regions of India, certified under UK Soil Association Organic Standards. For obtaining the optimal quality of oil, plants are grown in partial sunlight or half-shade environment. The leaves of Peppermint contain the highest concentration of the oil at a time when flowers had just bloomed, and cover not more than 10% of the plantations. During this time, fresh leaves are handpicked and sent for extraction of oil by the steam distillation process.

Haircare: Peppermint oil stimulates the scalp, thus greatly promoting hair growth. It treats scalp inflammation and dryness and presents a natural way to kill lice.

Disinfectant: As a natural sanitiser, this antimicrobial oil not only cleans but also leaves a pleasant fragrance afterwards. It’s a great house cleaner that discourages insects and mites from entering your place.

Pain management: A few drops on wounds can greatly reduce the burning sensation from cuts or burns. It not only numbs the pain receptors but also promotes faster healing.

Beauty products: Add 3-4 drops to creams, lotions, hair oils, shampoo, conditioners, hand creams, and other beauty products.

Diffusion:Add 4-5 drops to your diffuser. Optionally, combine with an equal amount of Eucalyptus oil.

Scalp massage: Blend 3 drops of Peppermint and 3 drops of Rosemary oil in coconut or olive oil. Massage your scalp and hair twice a week for healthy long, lustrous hair.

Peppermint Oil, Cosmos Certified Organic
This essential oil has a nice smell and I do like it a lot but I prefer the menthol essential oil from Mystic Moments which has a stronger smell and is cheaper probably because it's not organic like this oil is. I would still recommend this essential oil if you like the smell of peppermint and want to buy organic but organic is always going to be more expensive.
