Ecodrop's organic tulsi essential oil, also sold as holy basil oil, is steam-distilled from the leaf of Ocimum sanctum in India and bottled in the UK. Tulsi has been grown beside Indian homes and temples for some three thousand years, tended as a devotional plant rather than a culinary one.
- 100% pure: single-botanical Ocimum sanctum (synonym Ocimum tenuiflorum), nothing added, nothing diluted.
- Eugenol-rich: eugenol is the molecule behind tulsi's clove-like warmth and the reason it smells spicy rather than green. Our last documented lot measured 41.5%.
- Not sweet basil: that is Ocimum basilicum, the pesto herb, and a completely different oil.
- Not tulsi tea or capsules: this is the neat essential oil, for diffusing and heavily diluted topical use, never for swallowing.

Three thousand years beside the front door
Tulsi is not a kitchen herb. In India it is grown in a raised planter beside the door and tended daily as a devotional act, which is how it earned the English name holy basil and the Sanskrit description "the incomparable one".
Our oil is steam distilled from the leaf of Ocimum sanctum, grown in India and bottled in the UK. The constituent that defines it is eugenol, the same molecule that gives clove its warmth, and it is why tulsi smells spicy and clove-like rather than green.
Sweet basil, the pesto herb, is a different species and a very different oil.
Clear-headed, not sleepy
The oil for the start of the day
Most oils that calm a room also slow it down. Tulsi does something less common: it settles the air while leaving you alert, which is why it belongs to morning practice in its homeland rather than to bedtime.
Two or three drops is plenty. Try it with lemon before yoga or breathwork, or with bergamot and a little rosemary at a desk when your head feels full.
On skin it asks for more care than most herb oils: 1% in a carrier oil, patch tested, and kept away from the face.

Yes, we post from our UK warehouse to all EU countries, plus the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Norway, the UAE, Japan, Singapore and more. If your country isn't offered at checkout, email us and we'll see what we can do.
How much is international delivery?
Flat and simple:
- European Union: £8.99
- USA & rest of the world: £11.99
- United Kingdom: free over £40, otherwise £3.99
Will I have to pay customs or import fees?
Possibly, yes, and we'd rather tell you upfront. Orders delivered outside the UK can be charged local VAT, import duty or a courier handling fee on arrival. These charges are set by your country, not by us, and are paid by the customer. They're usually modest for small parcels, but we can't predict the exact amount.
Can I return an order from outside the UK?
Yes, you have 30 days from delivery, as long as the items are unopened and unused (a hygiene rule for oils). Return postage is at your cost, and we refund you in full within 3 to 5 working days of receiving the parcel. Just email us your order number first.
What if something arrives damaged or wrong?
That's on us, wherever you are in the world. Email a photo and your order number to support@ecodrop.co.uk and we'll send a replacement or a refund straight away, and we cover the postage.
